Looking back at 2021

T he beginning of the year is always slow, people are slowly getting back into their modes and you can say that everything is somehow waking up again. Dear friends, let's take this moment to look back together on a year that has been challenging to the point of breaking point for us in various ways, and in the end, also very successful.

At the beginning of the year we managed to launch our e-shop www.bvshop.cz , which allowed us to offer a comprehensive range of our wines in one place. According to the current results, which have exceeded our expectations, we consider this project a success and we will continue to improve it for you to make online shopping even more enjoyable in the future.

  We were also able to introduce the long-awaited RESERVA range, the highest range of our wines, which has expanded our family so that we can offer you our premium wines. This was a very important and fundamental step for us. Thank you for all your feedback and praise, thanks to you and the numerous successes from international competitions we already know that this was a step in the right direction and we will continue to expand this range for you. Last year was the most successful for us also in terms of international competitions. The winery thus followed up on the success of 2020, when it became the Czech record holder at international exhibitions and our Chardonnay 2017 Reserva was included by experts in the prestigious eleven best white wines of the world federation VINOFED in 2020. We are glad that in 2021 we also succeeded in this respect and our wines succeeded at important international competitions. Our greatest success was at one of the most prestigious international competitions, the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. In a competition of ten thousand wines from all over the world, the 2018 Reserva Riesling won in the white wine category. So this year we brought numerous awards from around the world to the Czech Republic and represented our country as it should be.

At the beginning of June we brought back a big gold medal and 11 other medals from the international competition Bacchus Madrid. Cellar Master Jiří Toman was also named the best oenologist of the exhibition for the best collection of dry wines, which was also a historic moment and a great success not only for us, but also for our country, as such an award was given to the Czech Republic for the first time in history.

Another success this year was third place at the world's largest Riesling competition, the Best of Riesling, held in the Riesling home region of Rhineland-Palatinate. To win an award of this nature in the cradle of Riesling is rare and a great motivation for us.

In October, the B\V winery was again a great success in France at the Le Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg competition. At this prestigious international wine competition, they took home one of the top prizes for the best wine in the Tramin category with another 3 gold and 3 silver medals. The best dry Tramin of the competition was Tramin Red 2018, No. 1831, grape selection.

We can also be satisfied with the quality of the grapes in the past year, which was top quality and provides us with excellent material for the wines we are currently preparing for you. The work in the vineyards has been top-notch all year round, and for that we owe a big thank you to the entire B\V winery team. Last year we also invested significantly in improving our grape receiving and processing technology. As a result, we have processed even higher quality material for you in the past year than in previous years.

Another important decision was to allow more time for the training of wines in the standard series than has been the case so far. The wines were trained on fine lees until the mid-summer holidays and will not reach you until 1 October 2021. This step has contributed greatly to the final quality of the 2020 vintage.

In December, we introduced you to our cooperation with Ajala Chocolate Factory from Brno, which produces its chocolates from the best quality chocolate beans and their approach is close to ours, i.e. to do things with quality, with a human approach and, most importantly, to put your heart into it. Through the video, our medallion, which we managed to portray the philosophy of B\V winery you could peek a little closer and get to know us a little more, we would like to thank the actor Viktor Preiss for his great voice accompaniment, it was a great honor for us master.

We therefore consider the past year to have been extremely successful and, as we have already mentioned, perhaps even a turning point in many respects. At the same time, we are aware that this is both a commitment and a motivation to continue to offer you the best wines and related services.
