Looking back to 2022

20. April, 2024

D ear friends of good wine, As we look back on 2022, we notice that, like many other wineries, we at B\V Winery have had to adapt to the changes that the past year has brought. Despite all the daunting business challenges, as well as unexpected obstacles in the form of the vagaries of the weather, we had one goal in mind. To do the best job possible so that we can harvest great grapes and build on the success of 2021.

An integral part of the path to this goal is the constant care of the vineyards throughout the year. We have therefore added new vineyards in the village of Hýsly in the vineyard area of Moštensko with an area of 11 ha to the vineyards in Ratíškovice and Mutěnice. To our great joy, almost all of the 85,000 planted seedlings have taken hold.

"2022 was one of the best years ever in our vineyards, despite the bad weather in the first half of September. We were also helped by new technologies for receiving and processing grapes, which allowed us to process really top-quality grapes," Jiří Toman, oenologist and cellar master of the B\V winery, positively evaluates the 2022 vintage while all the wines of the 2022 vintage are already "resting" in stainless steel or wooden barrels.

The grapes from the 2021 vintage matured as best they could and the standard range wines blended on fine yeast lees were trained for over 6 months in stainless steel tanks. Thanks to this, the B\V winery has been able to present 15 white wines of the standard range so far. The other wines of the RESERVA and RESERVA BARRIQUE series still have a long way to go.

An important step in 2022 was the launch of the white wines under the RESERVA BARRIQUE label. "The wines were trained for 12 months in 225 l French oak barrels and aged for more than 24 months after racking. These are wines with a huge potential for archiving, produced only in very limited quantities and are guaranteed to find their fans, despite their specificity," Vlastimil Valenta, the executive director of B\V winery, introduces the unique brand of archival wines.

In recent years, we have managed to win a number of international wine awards for B\V winery. 2022 was no exception to the string of successful years.

Among the most important awards are the successes in the following competitions:

The international success of the B\V winery in the tough competition is the result of a focused work, where everything is subordinated to quality and maximum care for the vineyards, grapes and wine itself. It is no longer a secret that we also enter wines into competitions that are not yet ready for the market. Their quality is thus verified in the fierce international competition. This is confirmed by Forbes magazine, which at the end of the year included our 2017 RESERVA Riesling among the fifteen recommended wines for 2022.

In the past year we have been working hard on the communal areas of the B\V winery and have opened a café, shop and wine shop in one. We hope to meet you, our loyal wine lovers, here and enjoy life together to the full.

Thank you for your trust and we look forward to seeing you!
