The B\V winery reigns supreme in the ranking of the most successful wineries of 2020
13. October, 2024R atíškovice/Prague 4 January - The highest quality of Czech and Moravian wines is evidenced by this year's successes at prestigious international competitions. Moravian producers in particular have collected 1,100 awards worldwide, with 28 wines becoming absolute champions in their categories. The most successful was the B\V winery from Ratíškovice, which received 120 medals at 11 international competitions.
"We consider our Hibernal's victory in the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2020, which, together with Decanter London, is considered the most prestigious competition ever, to be our greatest success. We also took the title of absolute winner in the dry white wine category from Le Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg 2020."
summarizes Vlastimil Valenta, director of B\V winery.
From the largest international competition, the London Decanter World Wine Awards, Czech and Moravian winemakers took home 111 medals this year, which is 53 more than in the previous year. The most successful winery was Sonberk with platinum, gold, silver and two bronze medals. The platinum and two silver medals were won by Vinné sklepy Lechovice. B/V winery took home 3 silver and 14 bronze medals. Moravian wines also scored at this year's last Terravino competition in Israel. Two champion titles were shared by Štěpán Maňák winery for Sauvignon 2019 and again by B\V winery for Pálava 2019.
"This year we focused more on international competitions. Each award is a testament to the high quality of the wine. The fact that this year we have two absolute champions in the main category, two category winners, two major golds and 23 more gold medals confirms that we are on the right track. Producing top quality wines is our long-term goal. We are a relatively young winery, but from the beginning our strategy has been not to sell at any price, but to give the wines time to mature optimally. Thanks to this, our work is starting to pay off," adds Vlastimil Valenta.
In 2019, Czech and Moravian wineries won a total of 990 medals at international exhibitions and competitions. This year there was again a record increase to 1,100 medals, which winemakers brought back from 19 prestigious international exhibitions.
